It's quite weird to hear someone's voice for the first time, especially when you have read their words. I think listening to people with an unfamiliar accent almost takes extra effort. You would think it would be easy, what with television, but there's still a small amount of extra listening work there. Perhaps I just noticed today because it is extra exhaustingly hot.
